Alabaster Photos is a newborn photographer in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and the short answer is simple: book during pregnancy. Reserving in your second or early third trimester lets us hold a window around your due date.
If you’re pregnant and just starting to think about newborn photos, the short answer is: now. Booking during pregnancy — ideally in your second trimester — is the best way to make sure a spot is held for you.
Why book so early if the session doesn’t happen until after birth? Newborn sessions work best in a fairly narrow window, typically 5 to 14 days after baby arrives, while babies are still naturally sleepy and curly. That means I can only take on a limited number of newborn clients each month to make sure every family gets a flexible, unrushed spot once baby is here. Booking during pregnancy reserves your place on the calendar; we simply confirm the exact date together once your baby has arrived.
Here’s how it typically works: you reach out and book with a deposit sometime in your second or early third trimester. Once baby is born, you let me know, and we schedule your session within that ideal newborn window. There’s no guessing or stress involved — just a simple plan already in place before your due date arrives.
If you’re already past that window and baby has arrived, don’t worry — reach out anyway. I’ll always do my best to fit you in, and older babies make beautiful, different kinds of images too.
