Here are 7 Things I Want You to Know as a New Richmond Newborn Photographer

I’ve been a New Richmond newborn photographer for several years now, and during that time, there are so many things I wish I could have shared with clients, friends, and family. So instead of sitting you all down and explaining, let me break it all down for you right here!

1. I Don’t Get Grossed Out (or Offended) Easily

I’m a mom and a birth photographer—at this point, I’ve seen it all.

✔️ If your newborn pees, poops, or projectile vomits all over my props, no big deal. It happens ALL the time.
✔️ If you drop a few four-letter words during labor, you do what you need to do, mama!

Seriously, I promise nothing will shock me. This is all part of the beautiful, messy, incredible experience of bringing a baby into the world.

2. You Are Beautiful

Whether you’re fresh-faced in a hospital gown or all glammed up for a newborn session, I see you through my lens as STUNNING.

Mamas often tell me:
🍼 “I wish I looked better in these pictures.”
🍼 “I feel so tired and swollen.”
🍼 “Can we just focus on the baby and not me?”

But let me tell you something: Years from now, you will look back at these images and see nothing but LOVE.

💖 You are strong, radiant, and absolutely beautiful—I promise you that’s how I see you.

3. Just Because We’re Friends Doesn’t Mean You Have to Hire Me

I love you, but I may not be the right photographer for you—and that’s OK.

There are so many different photographers with:
✔️ Different styles
✔️ Different price points
✔️ Different personalities

Pick the one that fits YOUR needs. No pressure! I just want you to love your experience and photos, no matter who you hire.

4. It’s Okay to Suggest Ideas to Your Newborn Photographer!

📌 Saw something amazing on Pinterest? TELL ME!
🎨 Have a vision for your session? I want to know!

Of course, there are variables like:

  • Different lighting
  • Different locations
  • Different props

But I love taking inspiration and making it uniquely yours. Let’s work together to capture exactly what you envision!

5. You Can Support My Business Without Hiring Me a Your Newborn Photographer

Social media is HUGE for my business. If you want to support me without booking a session, here’s how:

✔️ Like, comment, or share my posts on Facebook & Instagram
✔️ Tag a friend who might be interested in a session
✔️ Leave a review if you’ve worked with me before

Seriously—every comment, every share, every tag helps me grow. And I appreciate it more than you know.

6. I Can’t Fix Everything with Photoshop

I hear it all the time:
💬 “Oh, she can just Photoshop that out!”

Yes, I CAN do a lot with editing, but there are some things that just can’t (or shouldn’t) be changed.

📷 Retouching is meant to enhance, not completely change a photo.
📷 Extreme edits take time and may come with extra fees.
📷 I want you to look like YOU, naturally beautiful, not airbrushed to perfection.

That being said, if there’s a scratch, a breakout, or a small distraction in the background, I’ll take care of it!

7. This is My Job (Not Just a Hobby!)

Yes, I have an amazing job. I get to be around tiny babies and birth stories all the time. But it’s also a lot of hard work.

✔️ I invest in education—workshops, training, and mastering my craft.
✔️ I spend HOURS editing to perfect each image.
✔️ I handle everything from marketing to scheduling (and trust me, that takes time!).

Photography is my passion, but it’s also my livelihood. Supporting my business means supporting my family, and I am so grateful for every client who chooses to work with me.
