Clothing Ideas for your Fresh 48 Photo Session | New Richmond, WI
A Fresh 48 session is a photo session that takes place within the first 48 hours after the birth of your baby. The goal is to capture the early moments of your baby’s life naturally and candidly.
First and foremost, don’t worry about looking like a movie star the day after you give birth. Toss some tinted moisturizer, mascara, and dry shampoo in your hospital bag and you’ll have everything you need.
Here are some clothing suggestions for both you and your baby for the Fresh 48 session:
Fresh 48 clothing tipsfor the newborn:
Baby only needs to wear the hospital shirt, diaper, and hospital swaddle for the first couple of images. I like to keep baby in these items as it best documents their life in the first two days. Then we can move on to a special outfit and/or swaddle you would like to incorporate.
Simple Onesies or Pajamas:
Choose comfortable and soft onesies or pajamas for your baby. Solid colors or simple patterns work well.
Swaddle Blankets:
A swaddle is a cozy and timeless look to the photos.
Hats or Headbands:
Consider bringing a cute hat or a soft headband for your baby. These accessories can add a touch of style to the photos.
Booties or Socks:
If the session includes shots of your baby’s feet, small booties or socks can be adorable additions.
Clothing tipsfor parents:
Neutral Colors:
Stick to neutral colors like white, cream, gray, or pastels. These colors create a timeless and clean look. Pink Blush has some gorgeous floral robes that photograph beautifully during a Fresh 48 photo session.
Comfortable Clothing:
You’ll likely be holding, cuddling, and interacting with your newborn during the session, so wear something comfortable. Loose-fitting tops and comfortable pants or leggings are good choices. Most moms choose a robe, yoga pants, and a nursing tank top. For dads, a T-shirt and jeans are great.
Avoid Busy Patterns:
Steer clear of clothing with busy patterns or logos, as these can be distracting in photos. The focus should be on your baby and the emotions you’re sharing.
Layers:
If the session takes place in a hospital setting, consider bringing a lightweight robe or cardigan. This can add variety to your photos and also provide some coverage if needed.
Minimal Jewelry:
Keep accessories simple. Avoid wearing too much jewelry, as it can be distracting. Wedding rings or sentimental jewelry can be meaningful additions.
Remember, the key is to keep things simple and comfortable. The focus of the Fresh 48 session is on the natural beauty of the early moments with your newborn. If you have any specific ideas or themes in mind, discuss them with your photographer in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyable session.
